There’s something powerful about the act of letting go. Too often in leadership and in life, we’re taught to push harder, hold tighter, and keep moving at all costs.
Earlier this week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend The Bold Retreat: Boldness in Motion – Aligning for Thriving in Woodstock, Vermont. While there, I was reminded that thriving isn’t about clinging to everything; it’s about releasing what no longer serves us.
Just as the autumn leaves fall gracefully to make room for new growth, I found myself reflecting on the beauty of change. It takes courage to align with what truly matters. The boldness needed to lead from that place of clarity is significant.
For me, thriving is no longer just about achievement or forward momentum. It’s about balance, clarity, and alignment. I revisited my core values and defined my guiding vision looking at both professional aspirations and my personal joy.
As part of the process, I developed my 90 day roadmap. A tangible way to set priorities and hold myself accountable. For this season, my roadmap focuses heavily on health and wellness. I know that to show up fully as a leader, I need to take care of myself first. To be truly available as a friend, a partner, and a whole human, self-care is essential. For me, this means continuing to make intentional choices around how I spend my time, where I place my energy, and how I protect my well-being.
One of the most memorable moments came during a hike through the woods. I noticed everything. The trees were bursting with fiery reds and golds. The air was fresh, a bit warm, different than the morning crispness from earlier in the day. The forest smelled of moss, bark, and fallen leaves. I was reminded that change can be beautiful. Even when the path is unknown and things feel so uncertain. The forest felt like both a mirror and a guide. It showed me that letting go of what no longer serves us is part of the natural cycle. It creates space for what’s next to grow.
I left Vermont feeling grounded, inspired, and grateful. I connected with a special group of women. Each walking their own bold paths, different yet similar.
I am thankful for the clarity I now carry into this next chapter of my journey. Nothing earth shattering but more of a doubling down on my next steps.
Letting go doesn’t mean losing. It means creating space for what’s next to flourish. Thriving, I’ve realized, isn’t a final destination but an ongoing practice of aligning with my values, prioritizing well-being, and leading with both courage and grace. Just like the changing seasons, each chapter invites us to release, to grow, and to boldly step into the life and leadership we’re meant to live.
Here’s to boldness in motion and to living a life that’s not just successful but deeply fulfilling. A life designed for joy.
