Every year, I feel the change in seasons before I fully notice it. The mornings are a little cooler. The light fades just a bit earlier. Leaves begin their slow transformation into gold and crimson. Autumn has arrived.
This has always been my favorite time of year. There’s something about the last few months that invites reflection. A natural rhythm that asks us to slow down, take stock, and be present.
This feels especially true for me right now. Being in a season of transition, in between roles and reflecting on what’s next, has given me the rare gift of time. Time to pause, to breathe, and to focus on alignment. Instead of rushing forward, I’m asking myself: What matters most? Where do I want to invest my energy? What’s the right next step?
Nature has its own way of reminding us to embrace change with grace. Trees don’t cling to their leaves; they let go. They create space for what comes next. This resonates deeply with me as I prepare for the next chapter in my career and life.
I’m leaning into the small, grounding moments. Watching the light filter through tree branches. Hearing the crunch of leaves underfoot. Savoring a warm drink on the deck on a cool morning.
I’m also leaning into gratitude. Gratitude for the lessons, relationships, and growth this year has brought, even if it hasn’t looked the way I expected. Autumn feels like a natural time to honor these.
I also learned that I needed this change more than I knew.
Finally, and maybe most importantly, I’m giving myself permission to slow down. To use this time not as a pause filled with pressure to apply to all the job postings every day, but as a chance to reset, recharge, and step into the future with clarity.
As the days grow shorter, I’m embracing presence, gratitude, and trust. Grounded in the beauty of my favorite season while creating space for what’s next.
